What are the functional differences of 45 GSM GFM and GeoTex membrane?

You are currently viewing What are the functional differences of 45 GSM GFM and GeoTex membrane?
The functional differences of 45 GSM GFM (Glass Fiber Mesh) and GeoTex membrane (Geotextile membrane) are:-
45 GSM GFM (Glass Fiber Mesh):-
Reinforcement:- Provides additional strength and stability to the waterproofing membrane.
Crack bridging:- Bridges cracks and gaps in the substrate, preventing water infiltration.
Enhanced durability:- Increases the lifespan of the waterproofing system.
Improved adhesion:- Provides a stable surface for the waterproofing membrane to adhere to.
GeoTex membrane (Geotextile membrane):-
Separation:- Prevents surface dressings from disappearing into the sub-grade layer.
Filtration:- Creates a water-permeable barrier, preventing fine rocks and silt from passing through.
Reinforcement:- Stabilizes the bank and prevents lateral movement of the fill layers.
Drainage:- Improves water drainage and prevents clogging of drainage pipes.
In summary, while both materials have some similar functions, GeoTex membrane is more focused on separation, filtration, and drainage, whereas 45 GSM GFM is primarily used for reinforcement and crack bridging in waterproofing applications.
